Art Deco refers to a set of related styles of decorative arts, as well as architecture, in the first part of the 20th century. It often took motifs from African, African,Scotish, Egyptian and Aztec arts, and applied them in imaginative ways using machine-age materials. These motifs included zig-zigas, tropical foliage, crystals. It often featured stepped forms and bold sweeping curves.
