Problem / Situation
Reducing pollution and other negative impacts of motorized transportation, as well as improved health and interaction between people can all be achieved through increased use of the bicycle for transportation.
Solution
Design bike paths and bike lanes that are safely separated from motorized traffic. Ideally these should also be some distance from roads to reduce noise and pollution that cyclists are exposed to.
Provide bicycle parking spaces at both public and private buildings, ideally secured to reduce theft problems.
On hills, provide ramps or bike rails on steps to create bicycle-friendly routes.
