Problem / Situation
It is important to our psychological and physical health to spend time outdoors. Often, buildings are designed in such a way that we do not have convient access to outdoor spaces as part of our inhabiting of those buildings.
|
Examples
 | | Outdoor dining space | | This outdoor dining space is enclosed on three sides, making an enclosed-feeling room-like space. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
Supporting Patterns | Often, rooftop spaces are wasted or under-utilized. Particularly in urban settings where un-built-upon land is scarce, and for buildings where flat roofs are being utilized, rooftops create a perfect opportunity for outdoor space. |
