Symbolism
Solution
By encorporating symbolism into a building, the building can be appreciated on a deeper intellectual level. When using symbolism, it is important to consider that different cultures will interpret symbols differently. Avoid symbolism that is too subtle.

The building in this image, the Canadian War Museum, has multiple examples of symbolism. First, the front of the building is shaped like the bow of ship, an obvious reference to the ships that many people served on. The windows on the prow are a more subtle symbolism, spelling out in morse code the English and French phrases "Lest we forget" and "N'oublions jamais".

Use of water and fire can symbolize our uniqueness as humans.
Examples
NEMO in Amsterdam
This is another example of a building modelled on the shape of the prow of a ship. This one boarders the water in one of the canals in Amsterdam, making reference to the traditional role of this city as a major shipping port.
